SimV online flight to occur sometime in the future, possibly tomorrow (Monday) at 3pm US eastern. I'll post a confirmation of this time a couple hours prior to the event if that is when I decide to do it.

Decided to launch this flight next Saturday, right after the Chile tour.

What is the total distance of the flight*, to determine a suitable GA Prop Aircraft to complete the journey in a reasonable time?...(Before Bed-Time!... ...)

The departure Time will be between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM BST, (After the Chile Tour)?

If you're flying only a hundred feet off of the ground, nothing will seem very flat anymore.

I'll be there, not sure which era of flight yet, depends on what everyone else is flying.

.....and.....as its a fairly long trip, 136 Miles, I may wheel out my brand new, shiny, black, angry-looking, (Sim Shed) RAF Tucano.... 8-)...

..just completed the flight in my Tucano, cruising at >300 Knots at an altitude of 3,000 > 5,000 feet ASL, navigating from VOR to VOR, and by the cringe, the scenery is unexciting!.....and....FLAT!.... ...!

I can see why I stick to the Western Pacific Seaboard for the best scenery tours!... ...!

Its the sort of journey best suited for Commercial Passenger Jet Enthusiasts flying at high altitude, rather than low altitude Tourists in GA Piston Props...... ...!

As a regular U.S. Flight Sim Tourist I often wonder if the Eastern Seaboard, (and Central Region), is really as flat and featureless as it appears in the Sim?..... ....?

You're flying too high Paul, your undercarriage should be scraping the roof tops.

No it isn't. When I flew over this region in a 737 in the real world, it didn't look flat and featurless at all, and that was at 25k ft.

If you're going by that map, you're missing most of the best bits.

Alaska doesn't look very interesting at all there, neither does the Appalachian range. :-/ Both are very nice country that look (in real life) much as the area you fly around in California. FS has really done my side of the country little justice in the terrain.


In between the Mississippi & the Rockies is EXTREMELY flat & boring I think, but from the Miss to the Atlantic is nice and hilly rolling country up to the Appalachians, and then it gets to be a little flatter as it hits the coast.
