Downloading Files

Postby Shadowcaster » Sun Sep 18, 2011 4:45 am

Hi all

Been trying to download some files for a couple of days, every time I click on the links it opens a new window which says "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.". This happens on all files that I try to download, I have tried other sites and can download from them without any problems. This is the first time I have had any problems here, as far as I know I haven't changed anything on my computer.

Cheers
Rich

Hi,

Sorry to hear this.

Nothing has changed here and files download fine.

Try emptying your browser cache (temp internet files)

See if that helps.

If not please get back and I will suggest the 2nd line of attack.

Hi Pete
I gave that a try and also tried to download in 3 different browsers Firefox I.E. 9 and Chrome, pretty sure it's something at my end but for the life on me I can't think what. I also forgot to mention that I also getting the following screen "The connection has timed out The server at simviation.com is taking too long to respond".

Cheers
Rich

Usually the simple things are the root cause so make sure you have rebooted PC and restarted your internet connection (e.g. reboot router). Also try a different PC in your house if you have one - just to see.

Then experiment with turning off firewall and anti virus (only for a one time connection just to see if those are blocking your access - Make sure you remember to restart these!!)

If none of this works-

Next try a tracert from your PC.

(funny enough 'tracert is short for 'trace route') :)

Here's how if you're not familiar with tracert -

Go to Start - Run (if you have that in the start menu)

- otherwise -

Go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Command Prompt

Type tracert www.simviation.com

Right Click 'Select All' when the progress has reached 'pccw'

This copies the content to your clipboard ready for pasting here.

The tracert will show any problem nodes between your PC and our server.

Well it seems to me that something has blocked simviation at your home.

I have never heard of any situation where all these things have been tried and nothing has worked.

Are you using a laptop? If so try connecting outside (e.g a cafe) just to make sure it is in your home.

Other than that I have no other knowledge about your access problem.
