Any interest in a "Homebrew Cockpits" forum?

Postby JBaymore » Mon Sep 22, 2003 10:25 pm

Hi.

I was wondering if there is enough interest here on SimV that a "Homebrew Cockpits" forum section might be a good resource for the discussion of setting up a little more elaborate flying setup than the more typical joystick / pedals / throttle combo.  Covering anything and everything from using multiple monitors to just building more realistic controls, to control / PC interfacing units, to even setting up "sky's the limit" full motion flight decks.

I personally amd thinking of building a small unit that will enhanse the whole experience toward more of a "real as it gets" type thing....... on a REAL budget.  Lots of "sweat equity" expected.   ;)

best,

............john

There'd be a good way to find out .... post a message about it in the relevant forum & how much interest there is in this.

If you were interested in this (& we'd had guys here in the past who have done this & even written articles for SimV about their 'homebuilt cockpits' ) I'm sure there would be a healthy following of interest from  others ... :)

Pete,

Wow.... thanks for the quick reply  :).

I will post a question in fs2004... which is my main area of interest now.... and one maybe in "Hardware" too...... since this really bridges into that area too, I think.

Thanks for the "support" on exploring the idea.  I will get back to you as I see if there is enough interest to warrant devoting a section to it.

I get the feeling in thinking about constructing such a beast that I am embarking on a VERY complicated and long term project.  ;)

best,
