"The Compressed file is invalid"

Postby moleman » Sun Dec 13, 2009 11:55 pm

I've searched for all solutions on the internet, none of the 'vista' solutions work. I've looked on these forums. Whenever i download a file from this site, and i go to open up the zip folder, it says "The compressed folder [Insert folder path here] is invalid." I have read the path over and over, and it is always correct. And this happens for EVERY zip i download from THIS site. Other sites work fine. Can someone help me?

Hi moleman,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Zip files from this site are no different than other sites and pose no general problems.

What zip utility are you using?
Do you select to Save the file to your PC?

I suggest you use a good unzip utility such as Izarc. To unzip your downloaded file simply right click - 'Unzip to ....' and selcect the folder on your PC that you unzip aircraft files into.

Other than that if you can try to give as much detail as possible we will try to help.

Thanks

Downloading Izarc now, thank you for linking to a FREE tool that opens Zip&Rar :). My parents just made the computer i'm using COMPLETELY mine, and so i'm still getting used to the freedom. I use Windows Vista, have none of the service packs as far as i know, and have a generally good computer. I believe it may not be your site, or my computer, but some weird thing when the two combine because all other sites DO have working zips for me. I'll get back to you on this.

I installed Izarc, which turned out to be incompatible with my computer due to the perpetual error noise that started going on after the installation was finished. Now the default compressing program that comes with windows is broken and i can't open any compressed files, PERIOD. I sent a bug report to Izarc. So far, my situation has only doubled in problems.

Try Peazip, I use on 7, and my friends all use it on XP and Vista PCs, it will open basically all Archives, and it's free  :D :D

Thank you for the advice. This new zipped program WORKS. And it just confirmed my worst fears. All of the files i download from this site are coincidentally corrupted, which i guess is no biggie. In light of this, i'd like to report that the F-86 Sabre package with 7 skins and about 46 MB is corrupt.
EDIT: I'm wrong once again. All of the zipped files i once had still won't open even with this new program. I tested several zip, 7z, and rar files and they all say the same thing "failed to open, press ok to risk data corruption, press cancel to kill the program"

Hi Moleman

The problem is not Izarc, Peazip or the files on this site. You seem to have some fundamental problems in your system or something that is running and preventing proper execution of files.
