Not seeing YABB tags or Smileys

Postby aussiewannabe » Thu Dec 13, 2007 6:39 pm

Strange why I've never visited this forum before, but since I've been a member of SimV for 6 months, maybe it's time to bring this up.

I can't see the YABB tags or smileys on my computer when I want to respond to a thread in the forums. I can see them just fine on the computers at the library.

The error I'm getting is that the browswer is not compatible with these buttons. That's rather strange since my browser is the same version as the one at the library.

Has anyone else had this problem?

BTW I keep a list of the symbols/letters used for the smileys nearby.

Thanks.

Have you checked the Code/Disable Smilies box?

Often a reboot will fix problems. A lot of problems are caused by temp files clogging up .......

Unclicked (always has been).

Pete, is it possible that this may be a java applet issue? I've checked the Internet options and the scripting of java applets is enabled.

I've contacted the YaBB board. This is the current reply:

Using IE 6, you shouldn't be having any problems ... you don't have Show Images disabled in your browser do you ?

Check with your Admin, see if he removed the alphaie6 code from his defaut html file.

I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0, updated to SP2.

This is what I'm seeing:

Add YaBBC tags: browser not compatible with these buttons                                                                                                                                                                                                  Add Smileys: browser not compatible with these buttons

I have googled "browser not compatible with these buttons" and I got 118,000 hits.

Greetings,

I'm a member of a flight simulator website (www.simviation.com) that uses YaBB as their forum setup. At present, I cannot see the YaBB tags or smileys in order to reply to threads. I can see them at the library and on another computer at home, but not on mine.

The error message I'm getting is that the browser is not compatible with these buttons. The administrators are stumped as to why I cannot see the tags or smileys and have suggested that I contact the YaBB website to see if I can this problem solved.

Thanks,

Chris

Did you get a suitable reply at Yabb? If not I'm not surprised!  ;)

Opera browser is generally not compatible with Simviation. Not sure about the forums but the site just won't work.

Firefox is by far the best, 2nd IE.
