New Settings Applied...

Postby Flying Trucker » Tue May 17, 2011 7:44 pm

Goodly evening all... :)

A very big thank you to "Daube" Stephane for helping me get a lot more out of this electronic gizmo.

FSX and Vista
FS Water Configurator set to Steves Favourite
HDE Clouds
3D Lights
Location:  Alaska...USA
Aircraft:   Cessna 305 on floats
Season:   Fall 2010 and it was a Dawn Departure
Mostly all Freeware right here at Simviation... ;)

All settings have been changed or applied that you suggested Stephane and I think the shots show much better... :)

I left the Fraps on to show the rates I was getting Stephane and I had the Frame Rate set to Unlimited... :)

Going to be a Glassy Water Departure...

Flaps up...about to level off...

Great shots Doug. :)

If God intended aircraft engines to have horizontally opposed engines, Pratt and Whitney would have made them that way.

Great shots Doug, but we have some problems still:
- your FPS is much lower than it was before
- you AA is still disabled :/

This is not normal. Perhaps I've been a bit too optimistic with the recommended settings in NVidia Inspector, so let's try that again:
- I have modified the AntiAliasing settings,
- I have lowered the Anisotropic to a more reasonnable value
- I have lowered the quality setting to "quality" instead of "best quality", which will give you better performance without sacrifying too much texture quality ;)
Of course, ensure you are really modifying the FSX profile. On the top, the tool should display the MS Flight Simulator X profile title, and "fsx.exe" should appear in the green bar. Don't forget to "apply settings" a the end as well.

Ah Doug, two other questions, because I haven't seen the information in your previous topic:
- what NVidia drivers version do you currently have ?
- Have you disabled the DirectX 10 Preview option in FSX ? (if not, you should disable it)

EDIT: bonus question  :D You said in your previous post that light bloom was disabled, but in this shots it's clearly active (see the sun glowing). The FSX light bloom is a performance killer, at least on the NVidia 8800... you should disable that in the game settings.

Good morning all... :)

Hi Stephane... :)

Okay have made the changes...Applied
-yes FSX exe is in green bar and MS Flight Simulator X
shows in profile and menu now...
-Direct X Disabled

Geforce Video Adapter is 270.61 and I think it is the newest one...

-yes AA shows disabled in the game

I turned on Light Bloom to take the pictures and then I turn it off for the flight...think I should have told you...

Will take a couple of shots again...

Thanks again Stephane... ;)

Ok Doug, I'll wait for your feedback on the new settings.
Hopefully, at least with bloom turned off, you should get a much smoother flight.
