Do not update Java

I f ing made the mistake of doing that and had to rebuild my computer. All SSD now and FSX runs as well as FS2004. Everything on max. Its more real than it has ever been.

Looking at the dates, their issues on the lack of the Oracle security does not make a reinstall of win necessary.

Yes. Oracle has a problem on the bank codes and hacking into peoples privat lives, but those hacking/holes will remain after a reinstall.
