Gaming PC for FSX

I've always understood that FSX is a pretty demanding software and that there is no PC powerful enough to run the game at max setting successfully. Is this still true? Are the advertized Gaming PCs powerful enough to take on FSX?

I suspect that the folks at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories are already working flat-out to produce a mega-computer suitable for running FSX with all the sliders moved to the right*

Fozzer: Livermore, is that where there are lots of wind generators? Nonetheless I gather that the answer is no. My next question: Can you suggested a fairly decent rig where I can get a balance between graphics and performance? I'm shopping for a new mobo, processor that can take more RAMs.

Its going to be a long while before I can afford to build a new computer to successfully run FSX!

Got the picture. Maybe you can answer this one for me. Intel is advertising built in video in their processor, something like Intel Graphic 3000. Is the quality of this graphic comparable to the HD or GTX add-on cards ?

I guess the short answer is No with a BUT.

FSX is so unstable it may have random moments when it can't run on even the most powerful system BUT there are many systems out there that can run it at very high settings with good frame rates.

Personally I run FSX on a Samsung Laptop with a i7 and a Nvidia card. I have ALOT of addons for scenery and aircraft and I generally get around 20 to 30fps which is plenty.

U really need a dedicated graphics card to take some of the load off the CPU because that's where FSX does all it's damage.

Basically you need the best processor you can get i5 or better running at at least 2.8Ghz

A dedicated graphics cards with a decent amount of dedicated memory 1gb should be enough.

There's probably alot of other things you need if your building one from scratch but that's beyond me I just by them built so mother boards n stuff i dunno bout.

Here is my new build for FSX. CPU-I5-3570K overclocked to 4.0. MB- Gigabyte ga z77 d3h. RAM- 16gb at 1866mhz. GPU-AMD Radeon HD 7870 2gb. HDD-2tb. PSU- 800W. 4 fans in case plus liquid cooling of cpu. Havent tried it yet so dont know how well it will work. Having system built by Cyberpower. Hope this helps.

I bought a new pc for it and still am not convinced anything will be good enough.
i7 2700k oc'd to 4.2 ghz.
16Gb ddr3 ram.
700w TT psu.
nvidia GTX 660ti
120Gb hyperX SSD
2 Tb HDD
still lags a bit on max with no addons.
but looks great toned down a bit with lots of addons and getting 30fps solid.
BTW ,, I belive tweeking down FSX and using free addons looks better than FSX at ultimate setting anyhow.
