TrackIR 5 Issues

I have the TrackIR 5 and while it works well most of the time, it frequently will loose it's center and start "looking" all over the place. When it's doing this, the left hand green LED is off or intermittent. It doesn't seem to matter which sim I am playing, it just randomly does it for no apparent reason. It even does it in the TrackIR program. I make sure there is nothing interfering with the IR signal and the reflectors are in place on the hat clip. I use to have the TrackIR plugged into a USB hub. I plugged it directly into an open USB port but it still does it. Anyone else have this problem and maybe know what to do about it?

The only times that I have had anything similar to your problem it has been related to light interference from behind....it definately runs smoother in a dimmely lit room, and beware of reflective surfaces behind you (like a mirror or a picture with glass over it)
Hope that helps

1/11/2012 -Yip - I've had the same problems - exactly - what I found was the problem - is - exactly what is stated above - "reflection" from something else - interferring with the pick-up track movement of your HAT Reflectors - let me explain : I sit in my back room ,, my computer faces a big bay window so I can see outside - the back of my computer actually faces the big bay window ,,, my track IR 5 faces towards me away from the window - - - but --- behind me is a big ol' door with a WINDOW ,, and sometimes quite often light reflection will bounce off that windows in that door and interfeer with Track IR's ability to properly sense your head movement - so I put a dark curtain up over that door and went a bought me a small clip on light with a RED LIGHT BULB to put off to the side of my key board so I can see the keyboard keys and my Joystick toggle switches and or my saitek flight yoke controls , works great now !!! just have to adjust your TRACK IR 5 monitor sitting on top of your monitor once in a while is all - ALSO , I found out that if you SMOKE
