Hi,
I have a powerfull HP office computer
It has an Intel i5 3.2 Duo core processor 8gig's of RAM but a Nvidia Gforce 320 with about 250mb.
My FSX has been running slow lately. Probably because of the fact that it is at least 60gig's plus the NL-2000 addon.....
Anyway's, what would give a better result. Overclocking or get a video card that is actually capable of doing something?
EDIT: Oh and BTW: If there is any tweaks you know that also boosts the preformance of FSX, let me know plz.

1) Make sure you have installed SP1 and SP2 OR have Acceleration.
2) Use Bojote's Tweaking and Tuning tool for FSX:
http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.htmlThat should increase performance by a lot.
3) Download NVIDIA Inspector and check the GPU load when running FSX. If it's really high, get a new graphics card. If the GPU load is not so high, overclock your CPU.
NVIDIA Inspector:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-Insp ... -2612.htmlYou could also try upgrade your CPU to a quad core i5 or i7. It will give FSX a huge performance boost. What motherboard do you have?

The results of overclocking a graphics card are usually pretty small, especially in CPU limited programs like FSX. In any case, overclock the graphics card (GPU + memory) and if it doesn't improve performance enough consider upgrading the graphics card or perhaps CPU (dual core i5s tend to not be very good). You usually cannot overclock the CPU with HP's.
Also be aware that overclocking can have negative consequences (reduced life etc..) and upgrading hardware often needs its own prerequisite hardware (for example, a power supply that can supply a certain amount of power).

For overclocking tips, check the overclocking board is what I'd say. Other than that, I'd probably do more harm to your computer than good!

You probably wouldn't get any better replies in the tweaking & overclocking subforums. I'm not sure why the hardware and overclocking subforums are separate given they deal with such similar topics.
