They are a pretty good guide.

However please be aware that FSX won't use more than 1 GPU properly so crossfire and SLI setups will not be beneficial over a single GPU. This also includes graphics cards like the 6990 and GTX 590 which in actuality have two GPUs on a single circuit board.

FSX doesn't use hyperthreading either.

www.techpowerup.com has the best graphics card charts in my opinion. Find their newest graphics card review, and within will be a graph comparing every single graphics card tested before the date of that review. Look at the performance summary page for the resolution you run at.

http://www.computerbase.de/ has the best processor charts in my opinion. It's in german but it's not difficult to translate it using an online translator. Find their newest processor review, and within will be a graph comparing every single processor tested before the date of that review. Hyperthreading is also known as SMT, in the computerbase articles look at performance with turbo (if it supports it) but without SMT.

Unless you are running an application that will actually use 16GB of ram you do not need it, 8GB of ram is more than enough for FSX.

Also change the SSD to a Crucial M4 128GB.

Also IMHO that case is hideous although it probably gets good airflow. Corsair 500R and Antec P280 are my favourite cases at the moment. The Antec doesn't have as good cooling but is quieter. I just ordered one.

Also big heatsinks can block RAM slots, so try to get low profile memory if you can. Get Noctua over thermalright.

The first 9 in 9-9-9-27 is the CAS so the ram is CAS9.  I looked at the website and the 8GB Kingston Hyper-X Genesis is your best choice since the 2133MHz GSkill have a CAS11 rating from what I can see on the web.  CAS7 would really be better, but unless you want to build a rig yourself you are limited to what is offered.

I really do not like that Dragon Rider Case either, I do not like the way the feet stick out on the side and all your USB ports and other ports are on top.  The site has both a Coolermaster 932 and HAF-X, I had a 932 and have the HAF-X now and both are great cases.

I really do not like that EVO HSF.  I would send them an email and ask them if they will put a Noctua NH-D14 or a Thermalright Silver Arrow on.  I have the Silver Arrow and I got it over the D14 because the SA comes with PWM fans, the D14 only comes with DC fans.  Performance wise in any benchmarks I have seen there is only a 1 or 2 degree difference in temperature under load.  Either one will be fine.  If they will not let you switch and you do not mind liquid running around inside your system then think about the Coolit ECO II C240 they offer.  You are going to need the best HSF you can get if you want to overclock this above 4.5GHz and up.  Most people with a 2600K get to 4.6GHz and a lot get up to 5GHz, the 2700K should get to 5GHz easier than the 2600K, but it is not guaranteed.

If you ask them if you can get a different HSF ask them if you can get some CAS7 1600MHz ram.

Also unless you are going to run multiple monitors you do not need a 3GB GPU.  They also offer a 1.5GB GTX 580, you could consider that if the price difference is worth it to you.

I still think that you should consider building this yourself so you can fine tune the parts you get.
