yoke won't accept commands

Postby DenisH » Wed Jan 19, 2011 10:51 am

My Saitek yoke profile editor has suddenly stopped accepting commands. I can configure a new profile ok, install it, but then it doesn't work when I use the yoke in flight. I'm explaining this badly, but essentially, something seems to be blocking the profile assignments from the yoke . It has been working perfectly for a year or more. Any guidance will be gratly appreciated.  (The yoke itself works fine)

If it's been working fine for a year... what has changed? Updates... new installs?

SKIT: I don't know how other Saitek users feel, but this company has the worst service I have encountered in Flight Sim. The products are great but woe is the customer who develops a problem.  They don't answer email requests and they frequently cut off phone calls.  I was hoping someone here had the same problem and could offer a solution before attempting to get help from Saitek.

I understand about customer Service...
Have you tried un/re-installing the Profiler software?

Did Windows perform any updates prior to this not working? You should be able to check by opening Windows Update and then looking at Installed Updates.

Does the profiler simply send keyboard commands to the sim when you press a button?

Windows is constantly installing and/or upgrading something or other, but I can't pinpoint anything that would affect the yoke. I did update drivers from Saitek's website but haven't reinstalled. I'll try that.  Thanks.

Are you using a registered version of FSUIPC? If so, it may help with diagnostics. You said the profiler has stopped accepting commands but you can use it, but the yoke doesn't work.

Give a detailed example of what's happening...

OK. I go to the profile editor and make assignments following  the appropriate protocol. They show up in the assignment boxes, but not on the test screen. Something is between the assignments and the yoke accepting them.  I have attempted several methods to fix including reinstalling but no dice. I plan top call Saitek todaay. Yes, I believe I am registered FSUIPC. Also, I may have confused you re the yoke. It works fine but can't be programmed.

By "working fine" i meant it has no problem regarding control functions.

And the profiler has to be running for the yoke to produce the correct "signals", right?

What assignments are you making? For example...
If you want to assign Button #0 as Reset Altimeter...
Are you assigning...
Keystrokes like "B" to reset the Altimeter
OR
A function like "Reset Altimeter"

If you have a registered version of FSUIPC, I would recommend ditching the profiler. With FSUIPC you can create profiles based on the aircraft... Props, TurboProps, Jetliners & Jetfighters. When you have the proper controls assigned and you switch aircraft, FSUIPC automatically changes the profile.

And it's not limited to "game controllers", all my GoFlight equipment is profiled too.

SKIT   Thanks for the guidance but my skill level on computers doesn't go beyond first grade.   :-X
