Due to financial issues and other things going on I'm sadly forced to sell the beast I built a couple years ago, but not sure what a good starting price would be.

A good way to determine a starting price, would be to look online and see what it would cost today to buy all of the components(or the next closest thing to those that are unavailable), and then subtract 25%-40% for the two years of time you've been running it.

I used to be really proud of my setup, and what I had in it money wise, until I went to Walmart one day, and saw that you can now buy laptops with better specs, at a much cheaper price. 
What cost me near $1000 to build 3 years ago, can be done today for just under $500, minus the time I've spent running it, and I'd be lucky to get $200-$300 for my whole system.

Top of the line one day, run of the mill junk the next.


Best advice, start at just above the price of the laptop you want, and hope like hell you get it, but settle for no less than the laptop's price.  If you can't get that for it, it's not worth selling. 

I think $1000 is a little too much. I can buy a new pc with better specs than yours for around 800-900 Euro. If I would build it myself, even cheaper. Take Shane's advice and settle for just above what you need for the laptop.

Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, E6850 CPU.

Core 2 Quad Q6600s go for about $150 AUD used. E6850 is pretty much exactly half a Q6600 hence I'm going to say $75 AUD.

2 GB OCZ PC8500 (1066 MHz) DDR2 RAM.

Going rate is maybe $55 AUD. I bought 2GB of DDR2-800 for $50 AUD a few months ago...

1 GB PCI-E GeForce 8800GT GDDR3 Graphics Card With DirectX 10.

20" Acer LCD Widescreen Monitor.

Sold my old 19" for $40 AUD. I'm going to say $70 AUD since it's widescreen and 20" and presumably in good condition.



Grand total: $395 AUD. 1 AUD = 1 USD now, but since everything is much more expensive in Australia anyway and you're in the US, I think you'll be able to sell the entire thing for $350 USD. Prices are from an overclocking forum in australia where people sell, buy and trade used hardware and also are based off what I've sold and bought used hardware for. If you sell to someone who doesn't know much about computers you might be able to get a bit more, maybe $400-450. No promises though.

Try 450 first, then 400, then 350.

It's not a bad PC, but PC hardware moves really fast.
