Well im looking for buying a new desktop for christmas. Ive been dealing with a laptop for 3 years and now that ive become a serouis simmer I hate how low I have to make the graphics just on FS9! My laptop couldnt even handly FSX anymore so I deleted it.

Im looking for a computer that will be able to handle FSX at good graphics, lots of memory, and able to handle add-ons without the laggy frame rates.

Im not looking for a high tech gaming computer, Im just wondering if theres any computers out there for about $400 or less that can handle FSX at a good rate and be able to handle payware add-ons. I can add the memory if I need to.

Thanks 8-)

I have a new NickN specified build and am in the $2000 + range for the parts and OS and put it together myself... and it won't do what you are asking for only $400....... so I'm thinking that you need to adjust your expectations a lot.

Hate to rain on your parade.... but I don't think it is possible.

I think that tcco, with his serious limit on expenditure, would be well advised to forget all about FSX, and concentrate on obtaining a nice desktop Computer that is able to run FS 2004 to his satisfaction....smoothly... :-*...!

...shouldn't be too expensive to manage... ;)...!

..and add a few bits and bobs over time, to upgrade it when funds allow!

...which is what I have done for the past 14 years... :)...!

A decent, low cost, desktop computer running FS 2004 smoothly will give you just as much pleasure as FSX....
...trust me... ;)...!

Paul... 8-)...!

If you add enough zeros you could try a Cray. ::)

Interesting!... ;)...!

I was wondering if anyone supplied low-cost "re-furbished/second-user" Desktop and Tower Computers...

...lots to chose from there!

...any recommendations to suit Tyler?

Paul.... :)...!

Bookmarked the Site....
A lot of those computers are much better than mine!

Yeah most of those computers on there around $500 still seem good gaming computers...

I picked out a refurbished one but they have ones that are new that are about $550 and they seem like they'd work great?

I'm no expert Tyler, but at first glance, it looks like it would run FS9 very well, and possibly FSX. I think the biggest issue would be the video card, but you could always upgrade that later.

Thats the big advantage of a Tower/Desktop Computer over a "Laptop" Computer.
..you can easily upgrade them over time, as your funds allow.... [smiley=thumbsup.gif]...!

Okay thanks. Ill look more into it. Im sure I can get a computer for around $500 that will run good for FS9 and mostly all my good files are in FS9 like fspassengers, level-d, etc. but at some point i'd like to move up to FSX and if I need to upgrade the graphics card then so be it, no big deal.

If I get an external hard drive and just transfer all my FS9 files to a new computer that has a new FS9 installed, I know ill have all my aircraft and such back but will my FSP still be there will all its records? 8-) Recently just passed 100 hours in only 3 months.  :D

You likely should ask that question at the FSPassengers support site.  They'd know for sure how to handle that if it is possible.

Get a much better graphics card, like an nVidia GTS or GTX series, and that should do more than fine.
