I'm getting a laptop with 5 Gigs of RAM and 500 Gigs of memory, but I want to make sure that I won't be dissapointed when FSX doesn't run 500 FPS.

The laptop comes with an Intel processer, will that work alright :-?, in general? Thanks guys. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

First, I doubt anything short of a Cray I would run FSX at 500 FPS.
And second, it would help if you told us which intel processor it is, as there are about five bazillion of them.

Firstly, I would avoid a laptop at all costs. The objective behind the laptop is to be portable, have a long battery life and be cool. Gaming parts want to be quick, run hot, consume a lot of power and take up space. Especially with FSX, that's going to be taxing on the system.
Intel do make some great CPUs, usually they make the latest and greatest consumer CPUs first.
What will kill this system is that it DOES NOT have a graphics card. Games are mostly GPU intensive. Newer games do play on the CPU as well, but with no GPU, you're sinking in the ocean. Personally, laptops are awful choices for gaming of any sort (besides something like Pong, maybe Tetris)
The CPU is reasonable, but still probably isn't going to recover from lack of GPU.
My reccomendation:
Get a desktop. A gaming laptop which would suffice will cost a lot more and is likely to drain the battery so much that it will be forced to be plugged into the wall at all times.

Wow...

Will the game still run at a reasonable speed even if it does not have grafix card? :-? Can that be bought seperatly? I have a desktop now, it is terrible. 1FPS in Chicago in lowest settings!

Upgrades are too expensive. I need to be able to move this laptop around, we travel quite a lot.

This is a big shock, I've been saving for two years.

I'll put it this way...
I've just bought a laptop with an i5 520 processor, 6Gb of RAM and an Nvidia GT330M GFX unit with 1GB of dedicated video memory....and I won't be installing FSX on it.
FSX struggles to run even on the best of desktops, so very few laptops are going to be able to cope with it at high settings. (My desktop is an i7 with GTX 285 etc. and I can run FSX maxed out, but only after a lot of tweaking...)

I looked up some external graphics cards, will those improve the performance? At all? Is there any positive information about this thread? :-?

I imagine it'll be better, but I don't know if they'll be worth the money. If you do want to use your laptop for gaming, and have enough money, you could look here.
