I recently installed a case fan, but this question struck me. Does the airflow need to flow into, or out of the case?

Installed in front of the case usually brings air in; installed in back suggests blowing air out...

I have four case fans:

Front and side are intake: sends air in!
Top and rear are exhaust: sends air out!

CPU fan is in push configuration and sends the air on to the rear fan for exhaust.

I have an antec 300 and I use two intakes(front) and 3 exhaust. Side top and rear. All are 120 mm expect for the top which is just a little bigger.
I have perfect airflow.

Plus I did this because of the dust filter on the front fans
