2 things:
  • I don't have the money at the moment...  :-[
  • I was really thinking of building my own system for the experience and knowledge, as it would help in college next year.
I also fancied a quad core system, but the Core 2 Duos are so quick! Tough decision. Sorry CD., maybe if its for sale still when I have the money I will buy it!  ;D

Your specs:
Dell Dimension 2400
2.66GHz Pentium 4
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 256mb
1gb DDR memory
80gb Seagate hard drive

Actually...to save loadsa money...

To run FS 2004 only...I would just upgrade the Video card to a nVidia 7800GS. 256MB.
Pop in another Gig of Memory....(To make 2 GB).
...and that should do the trick!... :-*...!

....(My ancient AMD 2600+ (2.1 Ghz) Socket A Processor, and AGP nVidia 78000GS 256 MB Card runs it fine, flat-out!).

(Check your Power Supply Wattage..;)...)..!

Paul...G-BPLF...FS 2004....Win XP Pro... 8-)...!

Hey, Fozzer.
One question, its not the first time i see your posts and your specs. You say you run almost fs 2004 maxed out.Do you have any adds on it? what fps you have?

I ask this because of my specs ( and your opinion is welcome for some modifications

Gigabyte Ga-p35-DS4
Intel Pentium 4 Dual core 2.8
2Gb Ram (if necessary i will check cicling)
Ati HD 4350 1gb
Sata 500gb
Sata 300gb

Dazzle: If you go with a Socket 775, it might just save you a good few, and some newer 775 motherboards can use DDR3 RAM. But, most likely the CPU wouldn't be able to match what you want. Still, I think it would be a good thought.

Hello ba... ;)...!

My FS 2004 is an absolute joy to fly with my (ancient?) Computer system...(It will even run FSX SP2 with slightly reduced Autogen).

I don't do any "tweaking/overclocking, etc" to my Hardware, (a recipe for disaster!), or FS 2004 Software.

I have all my FS 2004 sliders maxed, and all the boxes ticked, and with my Frame Rated locked at 20 FPS, I obtain a "smooth" flight at 19 FPS in most places flying at low levels... :-*...!

My Trusty AMD 2600+ Thoroughbred Socket A Processor running at 2.1 GHz copes admirably with the Sim (and most games), and the upgrade from an AGP nVidia 6600GT O/C 128 AGP Card to my present AGP nVidia 7800GS 256 Card made the biggest difference to my "Smoothness", speed,

I would quite happily shove in a new GPU, but the problem lies in that my motherboard only supports PCI. So its a near impossible task. TBH, I want to build a PC to see how good my problem solving is too, something is inevitably going to go wrong!

The only thing im thinking now is to get or a 8800 gt or the 8800 gtx ($ is also short), and get a unicore 3.6 ghz (since fs9 dont use the dual), i guess i will have better results than the dual at 2.8 ghz.

What you guys think?

I use lots of pmdg and level d and much more scenery from aerosoft and AI.

By the way is anybody using world of AI?Recently i made a fresh instal of fs9.And now i want to instal some AI and the program tells me that i already have them , and ask me if i want to repair what i have installed (i remember that this is a new instalation, no old files or cfg), and when i repair the AI is active  :D

Many thanks to all ;) :)

Blimey Dazz!...

I didn't realise your Motherboard was so old...with just "PCI"
