I'm running a Q6600 overclocked at 3.2 Ghz with a GeForce 8800 GTX. It runs FSX well except in very busy situations. If I upgrade to a Q9650 and overclock it will I see enough performance gain to justify the cost? :o

To be honest with you, you have a wonderful machine for both FS.
Maybe what you need is some tweaking. When i asked about memory, i done it because, first you have a nice processor (even if OC is done), you have a very good GPU.So the point is your RAM.Why? Simple i dont know, how many sticks you have and if they have the same cicl, and if they are ddr2 or 3.If dont, that could be one of the issues. And if you could have 6 gb, but all at the same speed and cicle, believe me that you will see improvement, more than if you go for another processor.
And in my opinion, and after reading some reviews the diference will be

I have (two) 2 GB sticks of PC2-6400 running at 426 Mhz with timings of 5,5,5,18 and 2T and set at 2.050 volts.
The specs in my signature are a second machine ... just for FSX. The one I am working on is ... my work system.
