What could it be? 3 questions...

Hey!

Have some questions here.. hope any of you can answer....

1) For some reason when I turn on my PC, sometimes I only see the Intel motherboard splash screen... then 2 beeps sound, and it just stays there. My solution is turning off and on until it works. (This happens to me about 2 times a week)

What could be causing this? My motherboard is Intel DG31PR and I have opened the case and checked all the fans and connections and everything looks right.

2) Also... whenever I turn my PC on after not using it for about 4 hours, the (processor fan I think) fan sounds very loud for about 30 seconds, and then it starts to sound normal :-/ ... Again... opened the case and nothing is interferring with the fan and it is clean, also.

3) I have an electronic power stabilizer/regulator box that I have always used with my computers. It is about 16 years old  :o (came with an IBM 486 PC) and runs great until now. The question is.... how can I know when will it die, or.. should it ever die? If it does.... can it damage my computer while running?

Hope you can help with this! Thanks in advance ;)

1- According to your motherboard manual, you board only plays 2 beeps, when memory issues or sirene when processor overheats.
Try to take memory module out replace by another and see if it works, or you might be using diferent memory sticks.I supose you already checked if the porcessor fans works.

2-

1; bad sticks or PSU going dead
2: You have it on auto RPM mode? If so... that is quite normal... but not for that long. Vac clean the metal thing of the cooler (you can often remove the fan from the metal part)
3: Look at the max rating... if it is under 400W its basically useless

I had a similar problem with my system a few months ago.. turned out to be a bad motherboard. I would have to power on/off until it passed the POST screen. changed the motherboard and I'm good now

as for the fan being loud for a bit... that is normal, but like Ivan said, it shouldn't be for 30 seconds. Take his suggestion on cleaning the cooler
