Unable to Locate DVD-ROM

Postby a1 » Sun Aug 02, 2009 4:42 pm

I reinstalled Call of Duty 4 a couple days back with the install disk and everything went smoothly. The multi player function works perfectly (as it does not require a disk check) but when I insert the disk for Single Player I get unable to locate DVD-ROM error. Call of Duty 4 is in the disk drive and from what I can tell no new drivers are needed for my drive. It looks like the software can't "see" the disk.

What do I need to do?

Thanks

Get a no DVD patch for single player? No shame or guilt if the disk is not working ;)

Have you tried cleaning the disk itself and the lens on the DVD-ROM?

The disk is clean and I am pretty sure the lens on the drive is clean too because it reads everything else fine. I am not going to get a no cd patch.

I am looking towards my Mobo drivers if that could be an issue. Just a hunch.

I tried it again just now and it seems to work fine. Must be a simple "restart computer to fix" problem. I'll try some more to see if the problem persists.

Well I leave my computer on all day and didn't bother to reboot it as it was not an immediate problem. But now it occurred again. Looks like it might be a dirty lens. Any other ideas?

I will be honest with you.If the only cd that your device doesn't read is the Call of Duty, plsss get the patch. Sometimes it happends with cd's they no longuer can be read.
And if you dont know if the lens are durty, well dont use those cleaning kits, the ones with liquid it will ruin your device.Use if possible the cleaning cd the one with that stripe of cloth.
Cheers :)
