A recommendation or two please

Postby expat » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:03 am

To cut a long story short (leased a laptop through my company, leasing firm goes tits up, laptop sent for repair, can't be repaired, Acer offer money back, but only to bankrupt leasing firm with original receipt, new finance company say they only bought up the finance and not the maintenance,) I am in the market for a new Lappy. What I want is one that will run FSX (my "old" one Acer 7720 Travel Mate did that just fine) and am now looking for a recommendation or two. Budget is around

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

All I can tell you about laptops, is what I've learned.

It's impossible to overspend on one, and very easy to underspend, which actually ends up costing more, in both money, and useability. Much moreso than desktops.

Figure your ABSOLUTE maximum budget, and then add 50% to it  :D

You won't have to replace it as soon.. AND you'll get more (and better) use out of it,,
