No offence, but my best advise to you is to find another forum!

I have a feeling that this particular site is not that populated...

I had an open question for about 3 months, 3 MONTHS!!!

Removed it and got answer somewhere else.

Now I did it again, with another rig, NOT i7 and that class of hardware, but a modest, medium spec. one, but no answers, no assistance whatsoever!

Maybe this forum should be made an exclusive club for "upper class" rigs, and the rest us could go elsewhere...

Sorry for the rant, but it p*sses me off big time this attitude....

I would recommend going for the desktop PC. While that Gateway laptop might run FSX well, in some time you will want to upgrade some part of it, and that's easier if you have a desktop :). Find some place to install it. I'm sure you will :) Returning the laptop would be my choice.

If you're thinking about buying a desktop, building it yourself is the best way. Buy the parts at www.newegg.com --- I recommend you the following for a $1400 budget-- A 23'' display will be ok

Well. ITS LIKE THIS!!!!
You are on the right forum!!!
Laptop---- well, we know laptops, no matter how good they are......fors fsx.......well you know.
If you want GOOD FPS on FSX you need to spend money.
build a system for FSX its good.NOw?? WHAT IS THE FSX GOOD SYSTEM?
You can use Nick opinions, but they will be expensive,... if you want a "smooth machine".
I guess so far you have to take people opinions on the "right system".If you have the money to spend on your laptop. ..... ok. But its better you start to gather some money to get a "smoooth fps" machine.

I fly fs since it was fs4, and believe me, its a chalenge to get "the right machine", only now i have to have decent FS9.
Its a long journey. All depnds how deep you pockects go.I know prices are diferent, but less than $2000 i dont think you can get a "decent fps" machine.
I would keep my money, play a bit more with fs9.And then AFTER you get money go for a top machine, that can give you the smoothness you want.
Try the forums to get the best hardware ( im thinking you will be pacient to wait and buy the right stuff), so you can have what you want. With FSX smooth means $$$$$.I might be exagerating but......
read the forums.
Best of luck!!!!

;)

was hoping "systems to run fsx" which became a sticky, would accommodate these inquiries..but when nick placed his ultimate macho system there, i think it scared others away
