Just picked up a set of Redline Ascent CL6 at the Egg:

Trying to get my BIOS settings right, having trouble so far.

Using XMP DDR1600 CL6 I can't get memtest stable past 5 passes.

Still can't get this to work.

I question 6-6-5-18

Yeah, memtest 2.11;

I'll try 6,6,6,18 but if that doesn't work I'm returning the sticks.

Run OCCT and see what it does ... and DO use the Mushkin forums and ask there.

I really do think they may be pushin the lilly a bit with that 5 but none the less if that is what you paid for they should do it. I would check with them and see if they are getting reports of MEMTEST issues.. it could just a MEMTEST glitch

Another one you can do in Windows which is really memory intensive is HYPERPI.. if it passes that on a 16 or 32MB test with all 4 cores I'll bet they are running just fine

OCCT Passed the 1hr test

HyperPI v0.99 beta ran the 16M in 4m22s avg. with 1 sec or so difference among the cores and the 32M test in 9m34s avg. with 3 sec or so difference.

All this @4GHz, 6-6-5-18, 1N and 1.350 vQPI.  

So I'm stressing over nothing it looks like.  Thank Goodness! 8-)

If there's any more I can do to test it out please let me know.

I'll register on the Mushkin forums and let them know about the memtest errors.  It could also be a BIOS issue that may get addressed in a future release.

I think you are fine too and I would let them know

When you are at the top of the food chain with hardware one thing you must deal with others do not and that is software that may not be 100% working with the newer product. Sometimes you must make an asssessment on your own past what a test says

Never assume..

Although if you had seen errors in other test they would have backed up the MT result which would have validated it. With all other tests clean I think you are seeing a MT error itself


The last test is FSX itself.. its probably the best Windows based memory stress test on the market. If you dont get lockups in FSX I'm sure its fine

The 'only sees 4GB' issue WAS in fact a P6T memory slot design problem. And it has been noted several different places.

So far I know 5 people running the Mushie Reds on P6Ts (not the 6-6-5 timing product, the 6-6-6) including myself and I dont have any problem with it

I really am starting to suspect your board has a problem

Bent pins in the CPU socket have also been reported as the cause and reseating the CPU has also been reported as fixing it too

I guess I'll try to RMA the board and see what happens.

Trouble is for me this put's me in the hanger for God knows how long and I don't think I can handle that.  I may have to go buy another board just to get me by.  Test that and see what happens.

I know if and when this all gets fixed I'll be right as rain but right now I'm feeling like (and you have to be a BSG fan) Admiral Adama after Starbuck died when he raged and busted up his model ship.  Haven't busted up anything but I sure want to!

As for your problem.. try RMA the memory first however what you have been reporting in the past and now this just rings like board to me. MEMTEST is not going to cause your memory to start reporting 4GB.. I assume it reported 4 in the BIOS and 6 in CPUz in Windows?.. thats the issue everyone seems to be seeing with bad boards.

No Nick, the NEW BSG  :P.  I thought since you were into the likes of Star Trek you watched that too.  Circa 2004 on the scifi channel, completely different!  Ohhh one of the best series ever made.

I never went back and and looked at cpuz after I got the 4Gb, I just put the dominators back in, clocked it back up and everything runs fine.  I'm going to memtest the Corsairs overnight just to be sure but these sticks have worked perfectly since I got them almost 6 months ago.

By the way, I tested the memory last night unclocked, 3.2GHz and XMP profiles only.  When I woke up it was just dumping errors by the millions.  Before when I memtested it would run and when the errors showed up, even by the millions, they would stop being generated depending on which test it was on.  This time they just gushed forth and it got stuck on that test.

Like something was working better before a couple days ago and after testing for a while it just started barfing.  I know memtest can't hurt anything, it only brings out weaknesses.
