MS Sidewinder force feedback 2 doesnt work well wi

I have a new PC with Windos XP professional and Service pack 3 and the MS Sidewinder force feedback works a bit erratic and also the force feedback is not working.
Is there a patch to fix this?

Have you definately installed the latest drivers, no doubt available from the Microsoft website?
