I couldn't find another Forum to post this question. I know this forum leans toward FS problems, but as I said "I could find no other Forum!!!"
Anyway, I have  a Belkin G wireless router. It was working fine until the power in my house flickered on and off and now the router no longer works. I have everything and it's all set up correctly and the internet works fine when it's connected directly to the computer and not through the router.
1 The internet doesn't work on the computer when the internet runs through the router
2 Also, the wireless signal is picked up by my other computer, with all bars, BUT the internet itself can't connect.

Please help :'( :'(

Have you tried turning the router on and off?

A full reset on the router might be required.

Start with Mazza's suggestion. Look for a little hole on the back or underneath and stick a pen in it and hold for 30 seconds to do a full reset. If that doesn't solve your problem try changing lan cables around then if that doesn't work you're looking at a fried router

Fozzer's advice...

Throw the Router into a local Land-Fill Site, and just use a simple, low-cost, Plug-and-Play, USB, Wired Modem, for problem-free connections...(including Sim V Multiplayer)...;)...!

"Routers" of all types, and their associated problems will destroy your life....trust me!...;)...!

Also, it wouldn't hurt to check if you can access the router menu... to see if the problem is the internet access, or your computer

open your network adapters screen, and check the status of the connection... on the details page, look for the 'Default Gateway' entry... should read something like 192.168.1.1

then open your browser and type in the gateway address... if it opens, you know your LAN is working fine, and the trouble is farther on down the line

Then, you should check and see if it's not your modem that has fried... I've had this trouble before... twice... and always due to power spikes on the tv cable... once it ran all the way through the network, wiping out the modem, router, the LAN controller on my motherboard, and the PCI LAN card on my grandpa's pc...  :P

but other times, a power spike can kill just the modem, and disable your internet access... in which case you're in luck, since your ISP can replace that modem for you for no charge  :)

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hello SimMaster.. this is the correct forum. It is here to ask any type of hardware issue. It does not need to be FS related. heck, if you wanted to build your own machine to run office, this is where you would ask..  ;)
