I run FSX on my 2-3 year old computer
its an xp and i dont know everything i need to tell you so i'l tell you this

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
2 GB RAM
I have ALOT OF CRAP on my hard drive
not kidding
my hard drive has 1.04gb out of 74.5gb
(dont worry im removing things as we speak)
i customize the graphics so let me tell u wat it is
Global texture resolution: Ultra High(i like reading my planes)
Aircraft: Ultra high
Scenery: autogen scenry low, VERY low ground texture, Custom Buildings ulta high no special effects
Wheather: LOW! (simple clouds)
Traffic Medium

i get about 20-25 fps

As soon as I get some money im buying a new computer
what kind should i buy for best results?

One that you put together yourself, or one that your local computer builds for you with parts that you choose.

For good results at a reasonable price I'd go for a computer almost the same as SubZer0.

Antec 900 | ASUS P6T Deluxe | i7 920 if overclocking or 940 if not... 940 WILL overclock further however. | GTX 260, GTX 275 and GTX 280 and 285 are good also | 6GB DDR3... make sure it's DDR3-1600 if overclocking | CORSAIR or PC POWER & COOLING power supply - 610 watts or above.

yes, a Core i7 system is the top dog now, and it has shown the best results with FSX so far

given that your computer seems like it's some 5 years old now, you'd be absolutely amazed by the difference  :)

Cheers

8800, is not as good as GTX 260, but it's still good and for good price.

Try to get the 8800GTX 768mb, second choice would be GTS 250, 9800GTX+ then 9800GT. They're all pretty much 8800's, despite the names....

Also, try and use a dedicated computer store like www.newegg.com. The parts are probably crap thus you're not saving any money; just buying slower hardware.
