CPU switch

Postby jime59 » Fri Mar 13, 2009 12:18 am

I just picked-up a Q9550 to throw in my current system which is a P4 670@3.8ghz.

My question is: Do I have to re-install my OS ?

Currently running XP Pro 32. (I know, 64 is down the road ;))

nop just chuck it in and it should go, but if it is second hand then you will need to reapply the thermal paste.

keeping in mind that your motherboard must be able to support the 45nm construction.
