after some negotiations with my family, the possibility of me getting an i7 system is now really present

it's an intel motherboard... won't let you clock. if you want the performance you'd expect, you'd need to OC it. for that kind of money, you can get something much better than that. look into the P6T Deluxe motherboard and some DDR3 1600 memory so you have room to overclock. don't forget your CPU cooler

Over the past few months the subject of I-7 has been extremely well discussed on this site. The components that are consistently recommended that you are looking for are these.

I-920 cpu

mobo

I do not know if Newegg ships internationally.

Therein lies the problem my friend... i happen to live in Brazil, land of all taxes....

even if newegg shipped internationally, which i don't think it does  :(
i'd still have to pay for a truckload of taxes once it got here... which would amount to MORE than the value of the parts themselves  :o

i will see about the motherboard... i'll try to get the Asus one... if not, well, overclocking has never been a hobby of mine... and i'll have to take what i can get

the memory is also already as expensive as can be... i can't afford 1600mhz modules...  :(

but i heard that this particular mobo is optimized to work with 1333mhz modules... and i should get good performance with it...

well, i'll call right now and see what i can do

Cheers

taxes taxes... I'm sorry to hear that. I'm sure if you're patient enough you'll be able to get all the correct parts you need in time. good luck with the new system :)

well, i called up my supplier... it seems the motherboard comes bundled with the CPU... so there's no way of changing that for another one without substantially increasing the price

but i did change the memories to 1600 DDR3 Corsair modules, a 20% increase in memory performance for 18.5% more money, seemed worth the upgrade to me, so i went ahead and did it...

well, that's the system now... i hope it works out ok

also, i heard that overclocking IS possible on this mobo, but it's not as easy as it would be had i had the Asus one... anyways, OC'ing has never been a hobby of mine... especially given the price of hardware here... i never had the guts to risk them should i do something wrong

thanks for the information, guys  :)

Cheers
