AGP vs. PCI video cards`

this is a follow up to my post about the geforce 8400 GS.
My previous card was a geforce 5200FX 128MB. On FS9, i get 18-20fps at medium/medium high settings. The card was installed in the AGP slot.
So i purchased the 8400 GS 512MB looking for a modest performance boost. It is installed in the PCI slot. If you've read the other post, you already know I'm getting horrendous FPS.
I've been reading the nvidia forums and it seems that its running slow because its in the PCI slot. Is that correct?
I intended to purchase an ATI Radeon 2400 HD for the AGP slot. I have the very same card in the computer at my office, and i installed the FSX demo and it runs that just fine. Both my home computer and office computer have 2GB ram. The comp at work has a pentium 2.4ghz cpu, and my home computer has a 1.8ghz cpu.
Will i see a performance boost if I go w/ the 2400HD card in my home computer?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
