Is it worth it?

Postby dvpro » Tue Jan 27, 2009 6:39 pm

So I need a little help here.....
With respect to the video display card:

The one I have:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150330

I have two days to get this card in the mail for an RMA because it's a little screwy.

The one I am thinking about: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130442

Compairing the specs side by side I am bitten with the "more is better" bug. With FSX...is it worth the 100 bucks more?

Thanks

get it and clock it up

look at the number of processing cores

The difference is there and in clock ability.. you will need to clock it up but it will do much better than a 260

Ordered! Thanks....Got any links on how to properly remove the old drivers? Do I need to either redo or reinstall Nhancer?

Thx

EDIT to add:
I changed my mind and got the next one up: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814130446

Wound up costing 2 bucks less!

Seems I have come full circle...here I am again.

So answer me this if you could.
I had the 260 XFX card...it is now gone. The EVGA 285 is now in. When I say in....here is what I did:

Removed the old 160. Did not uninstall anything or do anything. New card came, and I simply inserted it into the PCIE slot and turned comp back on. It booted to like 8 or 16 bit graphics mose and after a few seconds Window$ sait the hardware was installed and ready to use. I rebooted and it is now working in my normal res. Nhancer popped up and asked if I wanted to reapply or engauge my FSX profile. I said Yes!

I went to Nvida to get the latest drivers...selected the new 285 and the rest of the fields...this is what I got:

Product Current
Installed Driver Latest Driver
Update
 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 181.22
Your PC currently has the latest driver installed for your GPU. No driver update is necessary at this time.

So...do I need to reinstall those drivers with the new card in now? Or was it as easy as just poping it in and off I go? Nothing is that easy....

I'd still reinstall drivers just to help prevent any problems that may arrise.
