What are the rest of your system specs?

If it has one 8 pin PCI-E connecter and one 6 pin PCI-E connecter - then yes. I'd rather go for Corsair TX650 for the same price though.

If you're putting in a GTX 280, chances are you have some other serious hardware and OC or plan to OC, right?

I'd bump up to a larger PS since you will soon hit the wall with that one. Look at the Corsair 1000HX. It has everything you'll need.

It does not have an 8 pin PCI-E connector, only 2 6 pin connectors. If it's $$$$ you're concerned about and prefer the OCZ brand then this one is very similar to your choice, slightly higher but not much,in cost though, but has 1 6 pin and 1 6+2 pin PCI-E connectors.

Good luck on whatever you decide and your new card if you get it.

I highly recommend the GameXstream series. They are rock soild, are SLI certified and have the connections you need. I would recommend you get at least 850 watt, but there is also a 700 watt if money is tight. I use this personally and it is whisper quiet. The blue light looks great as well.

850w- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817341003
700w - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817341002

Thankyou for your responses.....

I have this PSU already, been 1 year now...was hoping not to have to 'upgrade it'....

Here are my specs :

E6850 overclocked to 3.8ghz
4 gig Crucial DDR2 Overclcoked to 950mhz
OCZ 600W PSU
8800GT (wanting to purchase 280GTX now...)
Gigabyte GA-P35 Ds3L Mobo
150gig Velociraptor (dedicated for FSX)
2 WD 750gig HD
XP Pro x64
* Runs FSX very well...interested to upgrade to 280GTX now..*

NOTE *

The specs on NEWEGG for the 280GTX says this :
________________________________________________________
Minimum requirements :
"575W PCI Express-compliant system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 42A or more*
_________________________________________________________

I am concerned about the "42A" on the 12V rails....
If you read my PSU specs...it looks like my 12v rails are only 18A...

Also, I only have 2 6 pin connectors for the GPU, which WILL work (the 280GTX come with a 6pin to 8pin 'adapter' , although some folks have commented about warning against doing that....

Any comments...?

The PSU is borderline.. it may be fine since you are not pushing a quad core however since you are clocking that PSU is really what I would call on the fence for taking on a 280 series card

You should have a true 650 in the system for that card, 750 if the processor was a quad

those 'rail' PSUs can drop power quckly which is why I only buy single rail PSU's which deliver the current to any plug on the rail without loss

PC Power and Cooling is designed that way... and they have the best 750 watt PSU desingned on the market for less than 120 bucks

80 bucks with the rebate.. that PSU will follow you for years
