What one would you go with I would like to build one but our credit was really bad and we threw out our credit cards so we dont have anyway to order offline.

I would go with the i7 as it is the newer tech and it will be upgradable for a few years. If you go with the Core 2 you will be upgrading to i7 sooner or later anyway, might as well take the plunge now than waste money on a system that is only an in between at best.

The main problem is more the BIOS and the ability to expand with memory, video cards and clocks although I do agree with the i7 suggestion
If you cant clock those OEM systems and have no way of upgrading them becuase of how they are designed to keep you from upgrading to force you to buy another OEM system from them, then you are stuck with what ever they sell you
I would not touch a OEM computer with a 10 foot pole unless I knew for a fact I could upgrade and clock it
he memory speed and ability in that i7 may be complete crap and also not allow better memory product to run..

OEM systems.... NOOOO wayyyy
overpriced crap is what they are if you're looking to build a good system...
build your own computer, it's not that hard. you'll be extremely happy, get what you wanted, and have plenty of room for upgrade in the future. this is of course if you get the right parts ;)

Actually i just remembered i did find a very good priced nec once. it was based around a q6600 and a 8600gt. From memory i think it was around $1300 I looked up the cheapest prices on all the parts in australia and to custom build the same pc it was $200 more and that didn't include postage. For someone that will not be upgrading but just waiting till they have to buy a new computer this was a really great deal

.
[edit]Hehe and i just realised i end all my posts with a :D...
