Gentlemen

Merry Christmas to all!! (esp to Nick for your help this past year; I've learned much abour OC following your posts and expermenting with a real test plan and my 920 - I still must get the recomended Thermalite).

I would like a recomendation for a current 22" LCD product this will display FSX colors properly; I tried LG and Samsung today- the desktop was fine but I just could not adjust FSX colors as good as my old LCD(Gateway); may be the user!

Thanks ahead of time and Happy New Year!

Jack S.

:)

PS Nick - pls enjoy the time off.

PPS I got the Mushkin 3(1) for now after inquireing politely and received an apology for the delay.

Hi Jack

Monitors are not my specialty. I use a 24" BenQ which has a native resolution of 1920x1200. I am very happy with the unit and have used it for 1.5 years and no issues

It did require a bit of tuning on the color and backlight to get the image correct. Newer and even better LCD typically does not come 'ready for action' right out of the box.

I had to (from the monitor controls, not drivers) adjust the brightness, contrast and reduce just a touch of red out of the picture which left me with a great image. Making sure it was also on a true DVD-I connection is also important

@22inch 1680 x 1050 will be the resolution you are after.. perhaps consider moving up to 24"

unfortunately they do not make the BenQ unit I have anymore but this model is their newer tech

I understand it does not come with DVDI or HDMI cables so keep that in mind

You too Jack

This is the unit I have http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6824014124

it was 800 bucks new and if you look at all the features/inputs you see why. It has the telescope stand which lifts high and allows the screen to rotate 90 degrees to view long spreadsheets and docs without scrolling. It also has the composite imputs as well as HDMI and supports PIP so I can watch several inputs at once

Its also 1920x1200 where the newer units are 1920x1080 but the newer units also have a faster response time which is what you are after with gaming. Both are also a 'true" HD monitor too so those HD movies will pop right off the screen

We use three Acer 22" monitors in the TripleHead2Go set-up. They are very affordable and show a great image! It was PC magazines pick.

The color is right on and the contrast pops!

Gasp!

Something I'm good with!  ;D ;D ;D

I work with Monitors all day, selling them and such.

A small list of my personal favorites are as follows:

LG 22'' (W2252TQTF). I use this one personally. It is AMAZING.

HP 22'' (W2207H). As mentioned, 22'' monitor with HD capability. Rotates and twists QUITE a bit. Fun little thing!

Samsung 22'' (T220). Very nice monitor once again. Text doesn't seem AS sharp as others with my experience though.

A basic specs rundown is as follows:

LG supports a 10,000:1 Contrast ratio
Samsung supports a 20,000:1 Contrast ratio
HP supports a 3,000:1 Contrast ratio.

Both LG and Samsung offer a 2 ms Response Time
HP offers a 5 ms Response Time

My personal choice between the three would be the LG. I run it through DVI to my graphics card and it looks and runs awesome!

I'd avoid the HP unless your graphics card supports an HDMI input on it. It has a horribly glossy finish which reflects EVERYTHING. This glossy finish is found on both the screen, and the shell of the monitor, meaning finger-prints will also be a huge issue.

Once again, I'd say go with either the Samsung T220, or the LG W2252TQTF. Similarly priced, similar specs (With the Samsung topping out by it's contrast ratio), and similar in terms of how they look.

well fingerprints are never an issue. Just keep a bottle of Mr Sheen around and it safely goes on screens as long as you rub off the marks already on there really really softly and preferrably with glasses cleaning cloth.

and why you bin touchin your screen anyway? :P

I have a Westinghouse LCM-22w2  that I got at Waltermart for less than 300 bucks in March of 2007. I love it. It paints colors rich, vivid, delicious and satisfying. I run FS2004 at the highest res available-- 1680 x 1050 x 32 or somesuch thing. Displays FSX pretty good, too. As technology increases prices decrease, so you should be able to find an even better monitor for less money than I paid. Keep your eyes peeled...

Thanks to al who responded.

I must have dementia! My 24" Gateway is perfectly good (1.5 yrs old; 1920x1200). I had to downsize my workspace and thought a 22" would be better but the $ were better spent on a 920+Muskin 1600+P6T+Raptor. The cooling will improve Monday!

Thanks again and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
