Windows XP startup Problem

Ok idk what happened and need to pick all your brains, i turned it off correctly last night and went to turn it on this  morning, it started going like normal but during the screen that says windows xp with the bar scrolling it stops, restarts and comes up with the message u get if  just turn it off with the button, with the following options,

Safe Mode
Safe Mode With networking
Safe Mode With Command <---- or w\e the 3rd start up option is
Start with last known good configuration
start windows normally,

Ive tried all options trying start normally and start with last known good configuration b4 the others and it go to the windows loading screen the back to the black screen with those startup options, i have no idea whats going on :\, havent had any power surges i replugged and checked all connections and im puzzled :( worked fine last night and was just started acting up :\ anyhelp at all would be greatly appreciated   ::) ::) ::)

Random guess - could be that a boot section on the hard drive is knackered. That would be my guess anyway!

Looks like a reinstall of the OS to me.


Try going on Microsoft's website and find which of the problems fit. I hate boot problems.

Thnks guys but i finally was able to access the system restore through the non windows way and just did a destructive recovery, i was pretty pissed at this computer, just spent 2hrs running a ethernet cable through the walls and attic to find out that my comp took a dump, so i called it a P.O.S. and did a destruc recov, works fine now but im goin through the "fun" time of finding all updates and installing everthing again  >:(

Not to add insult to injury but this was likely a very easy fix.

If it ever happens again or to anyone else out there who has this problem all you need to do is:

put your windows cd in
boot from it
press R to go to recovery console
type: chkdsk /r
