The pro clockers are getting 4.2GHz on air with the i7 920

and yes it is worth its weight in gold to FSX if you get that clock up to 3GHz+


If you dont overclock I suggest either the 940 or the 965

My i7 920 is a $300 chip and I've briefly run it at 3.8Ghz, and with some tweaking I expect 4Ghz. Of course you have to spend an extra $65 for a top of the line cpu cooler, because the stock fan is really inadequate at those speeds.

I concur that it's a much smoother flying experience. I also have a Penryn quad cpu and at the same CPU speeds the advantages of the i7 are quite noticeable when both computers are cranked up.
