I have read that the Radeon 4870 is the fastest vid card on the market.  Are these claims true?  Does anyone have expeience with this card and FSX?

only in Crysis

the 8800GTX overclocked, 8800GTX Ultra and the GTX 280 are the fastest FSX cards and the 4780 will not touch them in FSX

Thanks Nick:  I am committed to the 9650 - Australian prices make the 9770 etc a whole $1000 more expensive.   I am keeping the 8800GTX and hopefully can overclock it sufficiently.

While thinking about a new motherboard, would it make sense to move to DDR3 RAM which is of course a different mobo.

Or would 2x2 DDR2 provide the stability for enough of an overclock.

My problem is that you have more or less come to the conclusion that FSX really needs a processor running at 3.6ghz.   Which at the moment means a substantial overclock.   Even the i7 I believe will only be 3.2.

i7 Will do 4Ghz and the calculation speed @ 4GHz is equal to todays tech at 5GHz
