Good PC choice for 1+ (maybe 2) years?

Postby Gameunreal » Sat Sep 06, 2008 11:30 am

Hey there.

I am currently in the market for a new gaming pc, and after much research and deliberation I think I have struck a balance between my burgdet (1000Euro) and performance.

Intel Quad Core q9550
Powercolor HD4870
P5Q Pro
2x2GB Corsair XMS2 800mhz
Nox Urano 600w SLI
500GB Samsung SATA-II 16mb-cache

..(nzxt Apollo box, Dvd-rw, cables etc..)

All that with a Asus VW222S 22" Widescreen.

How does this config sound to you?

Regards
Patrick

My config has changed a little bit:

Intel Quad Core q9550
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Powercolor HD4870
P5Q Pro
2x2GB Corsair XMS2 800mhz
Corsair TX-650W
500GB Samsung SATA-II 16mb-cache
NZXT Apollo Black Chassis

(+DVD Burner and Cables)
All for 996.60Euro smile.gif [ 1402 U.S. dollars or 804 British pounds]

I don't really like Western Digital as I have had one of their HDDs before and it failed on me >:(

Do you reckon that'll run FSX well? I will O/C the 9550 to 3.6GHZ or possibly 3.8

I'd prefer the quad core as I won't be updating for quite a while and with teh new Intel NEHALEM chips coming out next year the dual core will slowly grow old.

I chose the 4870 for the extra 20% and since its a powercolor one they have a special fan(powercolor stripped out the stock cooler)

Do you reckon that my PSU is good enough for that hardware?
