Video card trouble... again...

Postby FlyinSolo » Mon Sep 08, 2008 10:11 am

Well for the first time in about 6 months (just had a baby) I decided to do a little flying. I fired up my computer and low and behold I can barely see the windows xp start up screen, almost looked hazy. The card is a Diablotek 6600GT. So I restart the computer and this time I can see it a little better but it has a red tint to everything and then slowly fades away. I took the card out, cleaned it and put it back in and it continues to do the same thing. The fan comes on but no video. When I right click on the desktop to get to the nvidia properties they are gone! I believe it's toast. Anyone else had this happen?

Try re-downloading the drivers and installing. It sounds like they are not on the computer resulting in the card not working properly ;)

Well I took the card out again and this time I sat down for about 30 minutes with a q tip and cleaned every solder and part on there. Put it back in, a little rough as I was pretty ticked by this point, and there you have it. Fired the computer up and it's been working ever since. Installed the latest drivers and off I went. I don't know how long it will last but I'll take what I can get.

Go figure. ;D
