don't know if i got that right, but someone i met told me to look into a x2 card where, lets say two 8800gt's, are bundled together using one slot....good?...no?...extra cooling? or?

If u meant X2 as in the Nvidia 9800 GX2 or the ATI 4870 X2... yes these are essentially 2 cards bundled as one, double the memory and stream processors.

I believe they are faster than the individual cards, but may not (correct me if i'm wrong someone) always perform better than these individual cards in SLI or Crossfire.
Ex. The 9800 GX2 is faster than a single 8800, but may not be faster than 2 8800s in SLI on certain apps.
Again, haven't read up on this in awhile, so someone, correct me if I'm wrong.

thank you...i made the correction......was just trying to see if a simple upgrade would help reduce the stutterings without me having to reduce the scenery settings.....

Intel core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4g
Asus P5k3 delux wifi edition
2gb ddrIII 1066 mhz Memory
eVGA 8800gt 512mb pci-e video

An upgrade of your card would do well, but an overclock of your CPU (and possibly memory) would go a longer way since FSX is CPU-bound... getting to 3.0GHz or higher (3.2 even) is very doable on air-cooling with a Q6600.

I will leave comparing the X2s to single core cards to determine the best card for you to someone else. There are more knowledgeable ones out there. Don't hesitate to do your own research though... it always benefits you in the long run.

I agree with Mousy about Overclocking your CPU to at least 3Ghz.

I would not add another Card, you'll be wasting your money, it'll have little performance increase for FSX.

Adding another 2gb of the same memory, or better still replacing it with 2x2gb 1066 if your Mobo will allow it will give you some improvements. Make sure you have set it up correctly in the Bios to run at 1066.

Your system as it is is ok, it'll take a big change to make a big difference.

I'd use the Zalman 9700 on a Q66.
BTW...
...
8800GTX or 9800GTX

MSFS is better on those cards.. the older 768MB 8800GTX/ULTRA are better than the newer cards in FSX. For other games the newer cards are better so its your choice

So if your concentration is FSX, a GTX will be a better choice than the newer X2 cards.
