IMO, if you're not going for the 8800GTX, you should go for the 9800GTX. It's $199.99 on Newegg and faster than the 8800 GTS G92, which is $184.99 at present. (Also reportedly faster than the 8800GTX, but still not as good for FSX). These 2 cards have the same 512MB of memory and 256-bit memory bus. Not as good as the 384-bit memory bus and 768MB as the 8800GTX but they're both under $200.

I'd choose the 9800.

GTX either 8 or 9 series, GTS are not that good for fsx.

FSX is more CPU bound. The most difference you'll see with FSX is a Ram, CPU upgrade, but in saying that, an old Graphics card can bottleneck new hardware.

The 9800GTX cards are essentially an optimized version of the 8800GTS 512. I run the 8800GTS 512 and I am very happy with my results, but I also have 4 GB of ram and an overclocked quad core Q6600. If you go the 8800 rout, just stay away from the 320/640MB versions of the GTS. These are actually the bottom of the line 8800 Cards out there. They are much slower than the 8800 GT and GTS 512MB version. The 8800GTX is still slightly better than either the 9800GTX or the 8800GTS 512. If I were you I would save a little on the GPU and go with an 8800 and see if you can get a fast dual core or quad core processor. This will benefit you more in the long run for FSX. Other games will see the primary benefit from the GPU upgrade, but a dual core processor is pretty much standard nowadays. Your sig appears to show that you have a socket 939 AMD single core. I don't know if you can find dual core AMD chips with that socket any more, which may put you into a bind.

I appreciate th einput.  I know I am getting to the point for an all around upgrade but just wanted to keep the cost down.  My fs9 has some how become corrupted so I am going to have to reinstall so now is the time for upgrade.
