A Good Graphics Card?

Postby Jay29 » Tue Aug 05, 2008 1:23 pm

Just wondered if any of you could give me an opinion on a good but not extremely expensive graphics card I could get so fsx runs a lil smoother. Right now this is what I am working with.

Dell Insiron 530s

4GB Ram

160 GB hard drive

Vista basic

ATI Radeon 2400 HD 256mb graphics card

Intel (R) Pentium (R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00 GHz  2.00 GHz

I'm lucky if i get 7 fps currently an the only thing I can think of is this graphics card just isn't cutting it. Its running very choppy, if i have Direct X 10 checked then some of my add on aircraft don't work right then if i check it off I lose the high cockpit resolution of my standard included aircraft.

Theres no reason I can think of that this simulator shouldn't be running smoothly other then the card. the system i think is more then able to handle fsx. So any feedback advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank You All!

Your graphics card is alright although your CPU is holding you back more than anything else.

Consider the following upgrades:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 CPU 3.0GHZ ~ $180

or

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHZ ~ $200

I wouldn't know what video card to recommend since I don't know what your computers power supply can handle.
Antec 902 - i7 920 @ 4.0GHz - G.Skill 6GB DDR3 - Radeon 5870 1GB - Win 7 x64

The E2180 is a prime candidate for an over clock. Your risk if you do it but search around its possible.
