i don't know if anyone else has said anything about this here yet... so here i go..

Nvidia revealed yesterday it's new generation of graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 280 and 260

i couldn't really draw a conclusion on how good they are... mostly because i think i'm scared of them  ;D

Nvidia also posted this pic here

Image

which i think they did just to make us feel bad about our own computers...  ;)

so, what do you guys think about this?

Cheers

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvi ... 53-15.html

Keeping in mind the 8800 Ultra is a SINGLE core card and a 8800GTX can be clocked to Ultra specs, are there really any questions?

yeah... i was reading another review about these cards... and they tested them against the 9800GX2... in some instances, the GX2 outperformed the new one...  :-?

hmm... i think i'll stick with my 8800GTX for now... and get another one while i'm at it  ;)

8800 is here to stay it appears!!  :D

Cheers

PS. this is the review i was reading

EDIT: just read your review... dear god!!! i didn't think it was THAT bad!!!  :o

Take a look at the FPS's for crysis, on Nick's link, that is.

GTX280 outperforms the rest at the higher detail.

This is a Flight Sim site.. you wanna play Crysis, buy it.. you wanna play FSX you will be sorry you spent that much

Its a well known fact and even PTaylor knows the 8800GTX/Ultra is still the best FSX card on the market

I know, but I was just showing that for an all-around job, the GTX280 isn't a complete failure, as it appears so in this thread.

For 600+ dollars, I'll pass

especially when the 4870 in July will most likely match it for 1/2 the price and it wont have any DX10.1 issues or be a blow dryer in a tower

Yes, not too many of us drop $2000-$3000 on a gaming PC just to play FSX.

It does not pull ahead of the 8800 with 650 dollars worth in FSX

and 650 if a rediculous price. Nv is out of control on pricing and laughing all the way to the bank

As for compares to the 4780.. no one can make that call yet. I do agree it will probably not top the 280 but for 1/2 the price who cares about a few frames. I dont see it being a huge reduction in performance over the 280

Actually the EVGA GTX 280 FTW I ordered is cheaper than what I paid a year ago for the EVGA 8800 Ultra
