Waste of Money or Actual Quality?

Found this popping around and was wondering.

http://www.killernic.com/products/default.aspx

Wouldn't the main part be Internet speed? If you have a super slow Internet connection with this fast card wouldn't it be the same as an on board port? I can't see how this would help out in connection times and all that stuff.

I have an onboard Ethernet port and works fine with very smooth speeds. Play games just fine.

I just don't see the need for anyone to have this.

The only thing I've heard about this product is that it bypasses windows networking stack, I couldn't tell you if it would give you any performance gain but my friend installed one in his computer and has never had any issues with it.

Only if you have T1 hyperspeed internet on a usually clogged server with a sucky mobo and extreme online gamer... ::) Waste of Money

i can see how bypassing the networking stack would free up a few CPU cycles... but i doubt it would be enough to actually be noticeable...

about reducing lag and latency, i just don't buy it at all... latency is mostly a geographic issue, affected by your distance from the server you're logged into... and lag can be caused by either a slow connection or a crowded server... so i really don't see how a card could improve things that are that far beyond it's scope... :p

waste of money, indeed... i'd stick with my onboard lan port until sub-ether internet comes around ;D or at least something closer to that ::)

Cheers

HarvesteR... waiting for that sub-ether link ;D
