Windows XP Startup Time

Hello everyone. There's one thing that's been boggling my mind for months since I've had this new Q6700 processor. The startup time is so much slower than when I used to have my AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800 @ 2.2Ghz. Now I have a Quad core at 2.66Ghz and the blue Windows bar goes through about 11 times before it finishes booting, but before it used to go literally 3 times and it would boot instantly. Why is it so much slower with my Quad then it was with an AMD Dual?

I am guessing you have all the cores enabled?
I have a QX9650 3.00Ghz Quad and boots up in like 4 seconds.

How do I know they're all enabled? I have XP Pro 32 bit.

Well go in your BIOS. And isn't that processor foor 64 bit to really use it?

In BIOS it says
SW Single Processor Mode:
Is that it?
And also in task manager it shows all 4 cores running. So it should mean they're enabled. So if they are, why is booting so slow???

Start up time can be affected by a number of things, including the number of programs being loaded and the level of fragmentation of the hard disk on which the OS resides.

I have 22 processes being run at boot-up and after. No programs at all. I just did two full COMPLETE/Name defrags with O&O two days ago and it didn't change the boot-up speed.
I have this system set up exactly as NickN has posted in the stickies of the FSX forum and keep it maintained as he suggests every month. It is extremely fast running FSX and any other program and never slows a bit, but boot-up is surprisingly slow.

I've no idea why it takes so much longer. My old system (the only difference is motherboard and CPU) was so fast at boot-up and it wasn't even set up as well as this one is.
I hope Nick takes a look at this one; it's quite interesting. I can't wait to hear what he has to say, because I certainly have no idea about why this is happening.
