Hi,

I was thinking about purchasing a Raptor X 150gb drive and was wondering if i would see an improvement in performance, FPS, or less stutters if i purchase one. I currently use 2 500gb seagate 7,200 Hard drives.

Whilst i have decent performace with my Q6600 & 8800GT, i do have stutters, even though the FPS are steady around 30. I have optimized my PC as per Nickn's instructions, defragged etc.. but think it may be the Hard drive that is not loading textures quickly enough!?

I would use the Raptor X drive for FSX only

Thanks

If you intend to upgrade to a Raptor... go with the new VelociRaptor instead... larger platter and 20% faster

HDD is not about frames and never will be... its about access time per file and yes it can reduce stutters. You will need to reinstall FSX to it and make sure you follow the O&O defrag list again after everything is installed... every step

I have a 74Gb Raptor on my desktop for Vista only, and it really makes a difference to loading up times, very fast.

I'd imagine FSX would run sweet... provided you have the CPU and graphics to keep up, which you do.

Thanks for the replies,

The VelociRaptor has 300gb, cool.

I'll need to invest in one, as i think my hdd could be better, which it will be with one of those drives.

After that its ddr3 memory upgrade. lol

Thanks
