Vista Crashed

Hi

My computer crashed today. I called the Gateway tec support. They said the only way to fix the compiter was to send me the source disk. Which will cost me $20.00 and take 7 to 10 days to get here. I could not even reformat the computer. It would just go to where you could choos to go in to safe mode and when I tried to go in to safe mode it would just blue screen and then reboot back to the safe mode screen.

So I've downloaded a program called Bootlt NG. This program will wipe out all of the partitions. Well in short I've had it with Vista. So after the partitons are wiped out, I'm going to reformat the computer to XP pro.

So I need to find some drivers. Gateway will not help me in finding them.

The computer is a Gateway GT5428.

Too late to take it back huh?

Have you tried this page?

http://support.gateway.com/support/driv ... sp?Tab=All

The "browse all downloads" method may yield better results than looking up drivers by tag or serial number.

From the looks of things though, you may be hard pressed to find XP drivers for this machine. (I find this hard to believe, but it could happen I guess)

Thanks.

No I can't take it back. The computer is almost a year old now. The Gateway tech, did say that I could downgrade to XP, but he could not help me with it. So I know that it can be done. As of now the Bootlt NG is still going. This is going to take the rest of the day :(

I think after I get the reformating done, if I can find the right network drivers, I will take it to the micrsoft web site and start downloading thier updates.
