Might get me a pair. I use the edimensional 3d glasses but they dont really work with the ati cards + LCD screens, no props when I had nvidia + crt screen the 3d was AMAZING, games like flat out 2 were unbelievable. Let me know how you get on.

8-) Tomorrow is the day! The VR920 will be a happy acquisition for my flightsim experience.

When you read that someone actually got airsick (queezy in the stomach for about 3 days!) You know this has got to be the best thing next to doing it for real!

Microsoft has teased us with the VR cockpit mode! It looks like the best experience with the VR920 goggles are gonna be flying fighter jets! feel the actual rush of that 900-1250 knots of speed!

Tomorrow night I will weigh in the PROS and the CONS on the Vuzix VR920 goggles! I know I won't be disappointed

I found with the 3d glasses you could drop the resolution and AA down for better fsp and it still looked crystal clear

Just got my VR920 today....How do I feel about my investment into this product? Let's just say it is too early to start shooting her down! I am in communication with Tech Support to see if they can work out the bugs and issues that I am incurring with the VR920 right now. I wont discuss what issues I am having until they are finished  troubleshooting. This way I can post Issue and Resolutions to help others calibrate their VR920 for best use.

So I will remain reserved on comment in fairness to this product. I have high hopes and I hope support can help me out.

OK TRIAL AND ERROR and corrections made the VR920 reveiw.

REVEIW #1

Right off the back it is not a fully emersed experience. What you get is a veiw equivalent to a 62" directly in front of you. If you are using FSX then this works perfectly with the highly detailed VRCockpits.

The VR920 requires alot of tweaking and a software update and DirectX lateset version update before you even get to use it.

What is it that you actually get with this VR920?

This is where the reveiw of the product either makes it or breaks it.

You get a 3D cockpit with debth to it. The 3D imagery makes you feel like you in the actual cockpit of the aircraft. What it appears to look like is the panel is flying and the background stays in one spot like a painting on a wall. as you turn the panel scrolls the scenery.

you can look about in the cockpit and get a very realistic veiw all around the aircraft. Taking off from the runway looks very real. The only down side to this product is the feild of veiw inside the goggles.

instead of environment all around in your feild of veiw, the environment seems to be on a wall infront of you and when you look in any direction it scrolls to show you that area. This device would be much better if it had mirrors that cover the corners of your eyes to make you actually feel fully emersed in the environment.

It was a pain in the rear setting it up But after I got it running I admit it was actually cool. But I think it needs more work. A wider feild of veiw is a must in an upgrade of this product. Then the pain in rear is that you must set FS9 or FSX to 1080x768 resolution in order for the image to broadcast on the VR920 twin monitors. once your done with the VR920 you have to change your PC's resolution back to the correct setting (for me its 1900x1200) resolution.

The VR920 doesnt sit comfortably on your face with the straps provided with the product. I wear glasses and many say if you have glassess to forget about using this product. You can wear glassess but they must be the slim square lens type so that they can fit into the Immersive lens sheild for the VR920 that blocks your sight from everything in the real world.

I have to say this much I will give it another couple of days after i search the net for some VR Cockpits.

But for now was it worth it... Like said before it takes some getting used to but it does add another dimension to FS9! I havent even done a carrier launch and landing yet.

1. Oh yea I heard people saying now if only if they could get the screen to stop shaking so much!

That only occurs only on the monitor not inside the VR920 (its part of the 3D engie in operation) and that is normal.

2. They say that the guages and letters in the cockpit are blurry inside the VR920. WRONG again

You have a zoom inside FS9 or FSX set the VR cockpit to the setting you are comfortable with. I use the F14 Tomcat (ironic that it is my favorite fs9 aircraft and the only one that works correctly), just zoom the panel to a distance where you can read the guages!

More reveiws to come as I gain more experience with them.

Yup even with the resolution set lower you still get a sharp image inside the glassess. But your actual monitor has giant icons on it do to the settings change.

In this video they must have been looking at FSX with the VR920 to be that impressed. Clearly this product was intially intended for use in FSX and not FS9. Although the newly released verision 2.1 software does support FS9. Your aircraft MUST have an VC cockpit in order to take advantage of this product.

Here's my final comments on the VR920 by Vuzix as I am in the process of sadly having to return it to them . I am sure the product is awesome with FSX. I have had communication on Vuzix website forum with another user that says it is awesome in FSX (which as we knows has high detail VC cockpits in it.) This product just doesnt work very well with FS9. The continuous having to recalibrate the Vr920 before each use. The glassess not staying in place on your head. Then what breaks the camels back with me and this product is the following:

Fully emersed environment :-/ I dont think so what you get is a 3D cockpit that is awesome because it makes you feel like your right there in the aircraft (pending a good VC cockpit) that is the truth with the product. The environment however is a screen that scrolls the image as you turn your head veiw in it. In other words while you are sitting in the cockpit, you are staring forward at screen (not the scenery sourrounding you like the cockpit) as you fly the 3D cockpit down the runway and take off, the look of the runway under the aircraft is awesome. But again it is a screen that moves with your head movement.

IT IS NOT A REAL FULLY EMERSED ENVIRONMENT Well I guess I can wait again for another couple of years until they release a product on the market that give you a fully emersed environment. Vuzix is half way there! The 3D VC is awesome but all they need to do to improve this product is reposition the displays and do some mirror magic inside the goggles to make it seem as if you are fully emersed in the environment!

My Verdict:

PROS : AWESOME Virtual Cockpits in 3D imagery (the cokpit panels and canopy literally pop out at you) Realistic feel of flight although not fully emersed.

CONS : Moving screen doesnt give you a fully emersed environment experience. You have to repeatively change the resolution of your video card when using a Hi-Res flat panel, You seemingly have to realign and calibrtate the VR920 before each use.

Comments: While I am not impressed with this product, I do veiw this product as a big step in the right direction to giving home users an awesome VR world without a large punch in the wallet! I am disappointment that I have to send it back :-/ but I am looking forward to see what Vuzix develops in the next couple of years!

Why not just buy FSX it's dirt cheap from amazon or ebay.
Maybe you should keep it bacause I'm sure it cannot be that bad, even with my 3d glasses it took me a while to get the settings right. Trust me keep with them you've obviously not worked them out yet

That could take quite a while, up to a decade i suppose, looking at modern day technology and how games/interfaces are developing themselves.

Yea that is what technical support basically told me, is that I had to high of expectation of the product. But still I feel they could have atleast designed a wider feild of veiw.

The VR920 does put you directly in the pilot seat with its 3D Virtual Cockpits. But what brought the VR920 down for me was the small veiwing screen directly in front of the aircraft. If it atleasts was created with a wider screen display I could have lived with that.

I think I will try to draw a scanned image of what it is I am looking at and what I was atleast expecting.

My freind I have done all of the Vuzix updates and I was not satisfied with Vr920. its a half completed product and everyone is telling me that I need to stop crying like a baby because for the $500 bucks that it costs there is nothing else on the market that compares to it for the price!

The VR920 is a great product in terms of what it does!

a) 3D Virtual cockpits (that make you feel like your really there)

b) Headtracking (where you look the screen moves with you)

c) support drivers that allow you to use it with many different video cards.

My gripe with the VR920 is the small screen that you actually see inside the goggles. The FOV (feild of veiw) is very small. A good way to compare what i am talking about is. You go to the movies right, well when you look into the VR920 you get a small theatre screen in front of you and what appears to be the movie theatre walls surrounding the screen (the corners of the goggles).
