Hello

I need to purchase a joystick that will work with fs2004.

Does anyone out there happen to know what a good make and model would be that will work with fs2004 ?

Thanks  :)

Anything by Saitek will do an excellent job, have a look here: http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/joysticks.htm

If your feeling rich then you may want to look at their Pro Flight range: http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/proflight.htm

I personally use the Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D, it has worked good for me. I have not had any problems flying on FS 2004 with it. But I am sure there are better ones out there.

For years I was a fan of 'force feedback,' but it cost me hours of tinkering and calibrating and of course there were wires trailing everywhere.

When my ancient F/F stick finally gave up the ghost I 'impulse-bought' a 'Logitech Freedom 2.4 Cordless' stick. I missed the force-feedback at first but the advantages of 'cordless' soon compensated.

For a start, no more trailing wires - and when not in use it lives happily on the top shelf out of the way. More important, it NEVER needs calibrating, it's spot on all the time. What's more, unlike most non-FF sticks, the centring springs are not overdone, it's not unduly 'stiff' and gives you very positive control. Only 'costs' you a couple of AA batteries every two or three months.

Recommended unless you're a complete FF addict (as I once was! :)).

I have the Saitek Cyborg Evo.

Very nice to use, lots of buttons, nice grip and it is customisable to your hand grip.

Good for a fairly cheapy joystick, but the Pro Flight range does look nice.

I am no fan of Force Feedback in Joysticks, (too uncomfortable), but they are generally necessary to obtain the "Twist Action" for the Rudder and Nose Wheel on the Aircraft...(and steering on Road Vehicles).

To achieve that, I use the Saitek Cyborg Evo Force Joystick (with Force-Feedback disabled completely).

Price: Around

Pretty much any joystick will work with FS... in the sense that FS can read input from any game controller plugged into your pc... but for starters, i think what you'll want is a 4 axis joystick with a good number of buttons... (4 axis is left-right, up-down, rudder twist and throttle), but trust me, once you get addicted, there's no turning back

i have 6-7 joysticks pling up in my room so far... and i'm still unsatisfied... my latest was a Clone Cobra stick (kinda generic) with 4 axis - 12 buttons... i used it until it broke down on me... now i'm back to my 9-year-old sidewinder FFB 1.0 which seems to be indestructable... (hehe i've dropped it so many times it should be in pieces now)

my next joystick will be the Saitek X52 Pro, coupled with their Pro Flight Rudder Pedals... these i suspect will make me quite satisfied for at least my helicopter/fighter/spaceship needs

then there will be a yoke... but let's not get into that right now as i could go on forever... ::)

Cheers

I've had too many problems with the Saitek AV8R and it's drivers so don't bother with it. :P
