Can't Extend Desktop?

Recently I just finished a build with XP Pro. The graphics card is the XFX Nvidia 8600GTS with 512MB memory and 2 x DVI outputs.

However, I can't extend my desktop to the second monitor. I have two monitors plugged in yet windows is only detecting the one output. On my laptop it shows 2 black squares with 1 and 2 representing the two monitors, here I only have a picture showing a monitor with the desktop blue background.

Why is it not finding the other output?

The drivers are the latest ones from the Nvidia website?

Thanks!

This is simple if you already didn't know.
Right click on the desktop, click nVidia Control panel.
Make sure it is configured for ADVANCED SETTINGS. Not standard.
Open the Display sub on the left, click Set Up Multiple displays.

Wii,

When I did that last time, it stretched my desktop over the 2 screens which is not what I want to do. - It streched the taskbar and all windows over 2 screens meaning that when I maximxed a window, half was on one screen and half was on the other.

What I want to do is be able to have two different windows open and maximised on the two screens and move them between the screens by "restoring" them and clicking and dragging them across and with the taskbar only showing on screen 1.

Hope that makes sense!

Cheers guys

Tom
