This should be fairly simple. I'm trying to figure out what my motherboard is so I can find out what socket it is etc...
This is what I know as of now...

Motherboard

Manufacturer: ECS

Motherboard Name: MCP61PM-HM

HP/Compaq motherboard name: Nettle2-GL8E

I know it has 8gb max RAM

PS/2 (keyboard, mouse) Two
VGA One
USB Four
1394a One
LAN One
SPDIF out (coaxial) One
Audio (side speaker out, rear speaker out, center speaker out, line-in, line-out, microphone) One Each

PCI (two open)
PCI Express x16 (one open)
PCI Express x1 (one open)

My processor is AM2 but it doesn't say anything about the motherboard being AM2 or AM2+...
I want to upgrade to the Phenom in about a year so...help would be great! ;D

AM2 / AM2+ difference is determined by 2 factors:

1: Soldering tracks
2: BIOS support

BIOS support is something you can fix yourself, but the wiring is something different

And i dont think that the nforce 430 can do AM2+

I've heard the AMD Phenom is backwards compatible with AM2. Is this correct?
